Former Swim Coach Todd Sousa Pleads Not Guilty to Teen Sex

Todd Sousa has pleaded not guilty to charges of having sex with one of his 15-year-old swimming school students. He was arrested in August and accused of having sex with the girl about a month after he finished a prison sentence for sex with another 15-year-old swimming school student. Sousa was the former co-owner of Swim Venture Inc. of Laguna Hills. He was first arrested in February 2011 while coaching a swim lesson at JSerra Catholic High School in San Juan Capistrano. He accepted a plea deal from Orange County Superior Court Judge Robert Fitzgerald and served a portion of his 16-month prison sentence.

In his Up My Game coaching profile, Sousa reportedly wrote that "he has been teaching and coaching swimming full time since 1994". And that, "he spent four summers volunteering at swim camps such as Stanford University, Auburn University and the Colorado Olympic Training Center. Coach Todd's experience also includes eight years of private coaching using underwater video and stroke analysis."

Sousa has already been banned from USA Swimming.
